The end of summer is marked by the start of the tuna fishing season for Breton trawlers.
It is a moment awaited by many curious people: the return of the tuna fishermen. The stalls are full and some fish can weigh up to 50 kilograms. The price is much less dear than in supermarkets since the kilo is 2.5 euros for animals damaged and 5 euros for intact species. The shelf life of these fish is two years if canned.
To carry out canning, everyone has their own recipe. “We put a little bit of shallot in the bottom of the jar, then we put pieces of tuna, bay leaf, a little bit of olive oil and sterilize for two hours”develops a consumer. Most tuna that has just been caughtché will be sent afterwards to canneries. The people who watch this fishing return admire the work done by the sailors. There are a lot of fish at the moment in Breton waters.
