Quebecers will go to the polls 36 days later, on October 3, as provided by the law on fixed-date elections.

“The election campaign will be officially launched on August 28,” says Mr. Legault in this video. “On August 28, it starts for real. »

The campaign is already well underway as the five main parties have multiplied the unveiling of candidacies and the announcement of promises for several weeks.

François Legault himself unveiled a third electoral commitment a few hours earlier on Tuesday, during a press conference in Trois-Rivières. For her part, passing through the Outaouais, Liberal leader Dominique Anglade made a new promise in terms of health and presented her candidate in Chapleau. Gabriel Nadeau-Dubois, co-spokesperson for Québec solidaire, presented a candidacy in Gaspésie.

As required by procedure, the council of ministers of the Legault government will adopt decrees on Sunday to dissolve the National Assembly and call the elections. François Legault will meet with the Lieutenant-Governor, Michel Doyon, who will sign the bottom of the documents. It is at this time that Quebec will be immersed in elections.
