It is the association CAVA (the coordination of the animation of associative life in Hautefort) which had the idea and which organizes the first edition of this event the Nights of light, this Friday 26 and this Saturday 27 August 2022. As a high point, once night falls, you can enjoy a sound and light show on the facades of the Hôtel-Dieu.
Two screenings per evening
“The theme is the history of this building: what was it used for, what is the history of the Hôtel-Dieu from its creation until now”, explains Philippe Mousseault, one of the organizers. Two half-hour screenings will be offered successively each evening.

It is a Périgord mapping specialist who worked to create this show. Bernard Maciel is the boss of the company “Les couleurs de la nuit” located in Coursac. The child of the country has a particular attachment to Hautefort since it was the village of his grandparents.
“It’s a historical spectacle, we talk about the history of this building through the character of Jean-François d’Hautefort. The goal is for the spectators to learn things, including the inhabitants”, explains- he.

Beginning of the festivities at the castle
The nights of light begin before nightfall in the park and gardens of the Château d’Hautefort. You can enter for free to enjoy your picnic or buy food on site.
To reach the forecourt of the Hôtel-Dieu from the castle, the organizers have planned an alley of lights with candles placed on the ground.
