Brendan Fraser will be honored at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) for his role in the feature film The Whalein which he plays an obese professor who tries to reconnect with his teenage daughter.

The Canadian-American actor will receive an award at the TIFF Tribute Awards. The ceremony, which highlights the remarkable contribution of the recipients to the film industry, will be held on September 11, on the sidelines of the festival. The cast of the film My Policeman and director Sam Mendes will also be honored at the gala.

Film adaptation of the play of the same name created by Samuel D. Hunter, The Whale will have its North American premiere at TIFF, which will be held from September 8 to 18 in the Queen City.
A few days earlier, the feature film will be in competition at the Venice Film Festival.
