“It’s a lunar landscape with ash broom everywhere”, describes Laetitia. Of the five hectares of his estate focused on well-being and personal development, half was destroyed by the flames. This resident of a place called Lidrio in Campénéac was evacuated during the night, at 1:30 a.m., on Friday August 12. She was able to return to her home a week ago, Monday August 15, and discover the extent of the damage caused by the fire in the Brocéliande forest.
When she walks in her meadow, Laetitia’s shoes turn black from the ashes. “The forest has been lucky in the larger trees not to come out so badly but a good part of it is to be maintained and cut. The edge of the mound there is completely destroyed and just behind it is the carnage make it.” Behind, it was the moor, there remain only the trunks and the branches of the brooms, completely calcined. Wild animals have also disappeared. “We had herons walking around regularly. At night, we could hear the owls. There, at the moment, the nights are particularly quiet. leave quickly.”
These images, this woman from the south-east of France and accustomed to forest fires did not expect to see them in Brittany. “It’s true that when I arrived here with all this greenery, all this green nature, the potential risk of fire was something that didn’t cross my mind at all.”
So since the fire in the Brocéliande forest and the damage to his estate, Laetitia redesigns her site especially for his chickens, his goats, his donkey and his other animals. “Instead of making fixed parks, I think that for the moment the best idea is to make mobile parks. For example, here we are supposed to be on the participatory market gardener, this area will serve as pasture at first . We will adjust, adapt.” And to succeed in this adaptation, Laetitia is helped by several volunteers but given the extent of the damage she has “still need help”. Laetitia can be reached on the Facebook page of her estate, O’Ti pommier.
