The year 2021 is ending in style for Benoit Magimel. With the approach of the end of the year holidays where we often tend to have fun (and suddenly gain weight), the actor has found a line of hell! And for good reason, it is not for personal motivation that Benoit Magimel undertook this physical transformation but for a film. On November 24, the film “De son vivant” directed by Emmanuelle Bercot will be released in cinemas. In this feature film, Benoit Magimel plays the son of Catherine Deneuve, condemned by illness.
To bring his character to life, Benoit Magimel had to give of himself. It’s the least we can say ! As he reveals to our colleagues from “Télé Star”, Benoit Magimel must have lost his extra pounds. “I had to go on a draconian diet,” admits the 47-year-old actor in the new issue of the magazine, published on Monday, November 22. Who says diet, also says sport! “I started to run, to drink a lot of water. I had to have a rigorous discipline of life. I lost about twenty kilos in four months!”, Welcomes Benoit Magimel.
If the sport was very important in the physical transformation of the actor, it is not the only solution he found to lose weight. “I attended the consultations of an oncologist but I quickly stopped. I had the impression of being a voyeur”, he explains before continuing: “I had first of all to draw my inspiration in myself, that I identify myself totally with the character “.
This change was not without consequence for Benoit Magimel: “Seeing my emaciated head in the mirror, that scared me. I am very sensitive, I cried a lot during the takes. I could not find any light in this story. It took me these interruptions in the shoot to manage to take a step back. ” Benoit Magimel refers to the stopping of the shooting of “De son vivant” for several months because of the health problems suffered by Catherine Deneuve. Indeed, victim of a stroke, the actress was hospitalized and had to put her professional projects on hiatus.
