It was an open secret for connoisseurs of the club. Francisco Fardilha is about to leave (already) the Girondins de Bordeaux! Arrived last November at the club, the technical director of the women’s section announced his departure to the management at the beginning of July but he did not want the information to be made public so as not to disrupt the team’s recovery this summer.
It was him or Lair!
The Portuguese decided to leave his post for multiple reasons. First of all because of the club’s lack of investment in the women’s team (lower budget, non-reinvestment of so-called “extraordinary” of the FFF and the transfer of the Brazilian Taïnara to Bayern Munich, possible disappearance of the position of Team Manager). Then there was the departure of the head of re-athletics, Sébastien Oria, highly respected by Fardilha. Finally, the straw was the retention of Patrice Lair at the head of the team in the offseason. The two men did not get along at all.
Francisco Fardilha had planned to recruit these three players to strengthen the women’s team: Lana Golob, Jermaine Seoponsenwe and Léa Declercq. Unfortunately, none of them could join the club this summer due to the club’s situation. The Portuguese has reached a financial agreement with the Girondins de Bordeaux in recent days and will officially leave the club at the end of the month. This close friend of Luis Campos, the new boss of PSG, could bounce back to a German, English or American club.
