The PLQ open to a tunnel for the Québec-Lévis tramway

Liberal Party leader Dominique Anglade opens the door to an under-river tunnel for her tramway project between Quebec and Lévis. The Liberal leader, however, qualifies the project as 3e multi-billion dollar “hole in the river” caquiste link.

“Beyond the east-west tramway project, we also want a north-south link. We want it to go through Charlesbourg, the airport region and that it goes to Lévis, ”said Dominique Anglade, today when the identity of his candidate in Louis-Hébert was announced.

However, voters will undoubtedly go to the polls without knowing the exact place where the Québec-Lévis tramway of the PLQ would cross the St. Lawrence River.

In a tunnel, from city center to city center? On the old Quebec bridge? The vagueness persists and it is likely to persist.

“It is the experts with whom we are going to work who will be able to tell us how to do this,” hammered the head of the PLQ.

“They are the ones who will speak out with concrete measures. And if you’re talking about tunnels, and that’s the engineer talking, it takes plans, it takes quotes. »

3e Caquist link to oblivion

One thing is certain: the CAQ’s highway tunnel project will be shelved.

The training also promises to make public all existing studies on the 3e link. For months, the chief has been demonizing the government’s tunnel project.

“Because it doesn’t make sense to have a $10 billion project with two tunnels and drawings done on the corner of the table. It just doesn’t hold up. You have to rely on experts and that’s what we’re going to do in the proposals we’re going to put forward,” she said.

Many stages

According to our information, residents of the greater region will however have to be patient, because the Quebec-Lévis project would only be carried out during a third phase of development, according to what is in the boxes of the PLQ.

The Lebourgneuf and airport sectors will be prioritized in what will be called Phase 2 of the project, according to our information.

In a press briefing today, Dominique Anglade did not want to come forward on any deadline.

An announcement to talk about mobility issues will be made soon and the entire issue of public transit will be addressed.

At this time, all forms and projects of public transport will be exhibited there.

There will even be beautiful models, assures a source close to the file.
