Hardly anyone symbolizes the beach, the sun, the waves better than the Beach Boys, starting with their name. From the first notes you close your eyes and you’re there, thanks to this box reissued on vinyl and CD. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the first single released by the Californian band. And of course all their sunny hits are there: Surfin’ USA, I get around, fun fun funor of course California Girls.
The Beach Boys at the time of these first successes were five young men from Hawthorne, California. The three brothers Brian, Carl and Dennis Wilson, their cousin Mike Love and a friend, Al Jardine. And after ten albums celebrating first surfing, then cars, a turning point came in 1966: Brian Wilson, the group’s main composer, produced the album Pet Soundswhich will confuse the public but which has since been considered the pop and experimental masterpiece of the Beach Boys.
