Stay home! | The duty

For many Quebecers, holidays are an opportunity to take walks and travel, but for many municipalities, we would prefer that you stay at home to practice your outdoor activities. Indeed, a growing number of municipalities restrict access to their residents only or impose prohibitive fees on non-residents for access to a boat launch, a parking lot, a park, a bike path or simply a swimming at the edge of a lake. I see it in Montreal, Varennes, Contrecoeur, Repentigny, Sainte-Thérèse or Bromont, but people tell me that the phenomenon is spreading throughout Quebec. Alongside this, advertising campaigns inviting regional tourism appear rather out of step.
