Helping young people under thirty to settle in with hosts over sixty who have a free room to rent in their home, that’s Colette’s very simple idea. A website that doesn’t just connect. “Young people and seniors register online and then there is a whole process of qualifying profiles and then matching to create the best pairs of pairs possible”, says Justine Renaudet.

She had this idea while hearing her 75-year-old neighbor talking on her radio. More than a third of seniors say they suffer from loneliness. Beyond that is a huge market. “The broader vision is really to reveal a source of housing that today is untapped.”

“In Paris alone there are 500,000 seniors and 20% of them, so 100,000 seniors, have an unoccupied room in their homes.”

Colette already has 600 guests and for accommodation, there are ten requests from young people. The service exists in Ile-de-France, Lyon and Bordeaux. The service is 30% cheaper than a studio on the market. The young person accommodated does not replace home help. It is not housing for service.

Colette is not yet profitable and intends to expand throughout France before attacking the international.
