Canadian Bianca Andreescu has withdrawn from the Cincinnati tournament.
The WTA broke the news on Sunday, saying Andreescu had simply made a change to his schedule.
Last week at the National Bank Open in Toronto, Andreescu reached the round of 16. She was eliminated by China’s Qinwen Zheng.
Andreescu, ranked 53rd in the world, was scheduled to face Italy’s Camila Giorgi in the first round in Cincinnati. She will be replaced in the main draw by a player from the qualifiers or a drafted player.
Main draw matches for the Western Southern Open begin Monday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center in Mason, Ohio, outside of Cincinnati.
