The water cannons are still running at full speed, in Gironde and in the Landes. The fire of a periphery of 40 kilometers is still there, Friday August 12, fed by the strong heats and by the wind in certain places. On the front, the volunteers and the professionals are constantly adapting their strategy: relentlessly watering the hot spots or lighting backfires to prevent the flames from spreading to the intact plots.

For 48 hours, the fire has not progressed. It is now maintained. On the eve of the weekend of August 15, the last section of the A63 motorway, which was closed, reopened on the evening of Friday August 12, at 8 p.m. Firefighters are committed to closing it in less than an hour if conditions deteriorate again in the region.
