The victims saw the damage caused by the fires on Friday, August 12. Some have lost everything, there is almost nothing left of their house.

Belin-Béliet, in Gironde, has become a ghost town. The fire moved away on Friday, August 12, after destroying 17 houses. Some residents were able to return, such as two residents who discovered the house of one of their friends. “There is nothing to save”, laments one of the two men. The owners had just moved in after four years of work. A little further on, there are lodges that have burned down. There is nothing left, all the savings of Daniel Briat’s life have gone up in smoke. “When you see this, you don’t realize”says the owner.

In the town of Baugé-en-Anjou (Maine-et-Loire), the inhabitants continue to extinguish a few outbreaks that are still alive. But the danger is averted. A resident was able to return to her house, still with a lump in her stomach. “I’m still scared anyway. I’m going to stay there tonight but I’m going to be very suspicious and I’m going to watch the wood opposite”she says.
