Lake Annecy is the subject of all attention, Saturday August 13th. Its level is currently falling by about 1 cm per day.

Saturday August 13, many walkers are tempted by the clear waters of Lake Annecy (Haute-Savoie). “Usually we have water 30 to 40 cm higher, so there are a lot fewer people in the water, and even we don’t go there, because there is too much water”, comments a man. The lake level is monitored daily at 5:30 a.m. each morning, 365 days a year. This morning, the report is without appeal: the lake has dropped by 33 cm at the beginning of the beginning of the summer.

“Today it is 48 [cm]and yesterday it was 49 [cm]. So he’s losing about 1cm a day right now.”, comments Murièle Cassorla, deputy director of urban cleanliness at the Town Hall of Annecy. This significant drop is for the moment without consequence for the fauna and flora. The waterways fed by the lake are of concern. “When the lake level drops, the flow will also drop”, continues Murièle Cassorla. Lake from Annecy supplies 150,000 inhabitants with drinking water.
