An Australian cyclist wins the Périgord Ladies

Several dozen people applauded them, under a crushing sun, on arrival in Boulazac. Nearly 130 cyclists from all over France and abroad took part in the fourth edition of the Périgord Ladies this Saturday August 13th. A 118 kilometer race, between Sarliac-sur-l’Isle and Boulazac.

Grace Brown at the top of the podium

Australian Grace Brown of FDJ Suez Futuroscope was the first to cross the finish line around 4:30 p.m. She was quickly followed by Rachel Neylan, an Australian from the Cofidis Women Team and Simone Boilard, a Canadian cyclist from St Michel – Auber 93.

If Grace Brown showed a big smile on the finish line, the victory was however not assured, she fell from the first kilometer. “I didn’t expect to win the race, when my teammate Evita Muzic managed to escape with another girl. It really looked like she was going to win but the gap closed pretty quickly, and I knew that had to be attacked”, reacted Grace Brown at the end of the race. But this victory is not a surprise either, the cyclist started out as the favorite, she is very well ranked and she took part in the women’s Tour de France during the summer.
