The British author of Indian origin Salman Rushdie was stabbed Friday, August 12 in the afternoon, during a conference. Journalist Camille Guttin, live from Washington, gives an update on her state of health.
“British author [Salman Rushdie] was going to give a talk at an art and literature festival, when a man rushed on stage to stab him. It looks like he was hit in the throat.” reports journalist Camille Guttin, in duplex from Washington (United States), Friday August 12. “The Governor of New York State has just announced that he is alive and being treated. The suspect was immediately arrested and taken into custody.“, adds the journalist.
“Salman Rushdie lived with a threat over his head, he had been under protection for several years following a fatwa launched in 1989 by the Iranian Ayatollah Khomeini following his book “The Satanic Verses”, which had inflamed part of the Muslim world which considered it blasphemous”, recalls Camille Guttin. The Brit lives in New York (United States) for a few years.
