Quebec reports 18 additional deaths linked to COVID-19

The situation seems to continue to improve in Quebec hospitals with regard to the COVID-19 pandemic. For a second day in a row, hospitalization data fell in the province.

On a darker note, Quebec deplores 18 new deaths reported during the last day, which brings the fatal toll to 16,116 dead since the start of the pandemic.

According to figures released Friday by the Ministry of Health, there is a drop of 56 hospitalized patients with COVID-19. In total, 2,000 people occupy hospital beds and are carriers of the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Among them, 678 patients entered the system precisely because of the virus.

Among the severe cases, there are 57 patients treated in intensive care who have COVID-19, two more than the day before. Thirty of them are treated specifically for this disease.

In the health system, there are still 4,334 workers absent for reasons related to COVID-19. This may involve preventive withdrawals, isolation or a period of waiting for results.

As for the vaccination campaign, 10,563 more doses were administered.
