who will start next week?

The Tour du Limousin is making a comeback next week! Last June, France Bleu unveiled the route of this 55th edition, with four stages that promise great surprises. Today it’s the list of runners which was made public by the organizers.

If it is subject to change until the last moment, it contains for the moment some enticing names. Warren Barguil (Team Arkéo-Samsic), winner last year, should come and defend their title. Facing him, Benoit Cosnefroy, who won the 2019 edition, will lead the AG2R Citroën team along with the native of Oradour-sur-Glane, Valentin Retailleau. William Martin, forced to leave the Tour de France at the 9th stage because of a positive test for Covid-19, will also be there with COFIDIS.

“Revanchist runners”

Big names in French and foreign cycling who delight Christian Courbatère, the race commissioner. “We have wearers of yellow jerseys, world champions, we have a very nice line-up. It’s unexpected, exceptional even”.

This year, 140 riders should take the start of the Tour du Limousin. 20 teams are aligned, that’s one more than last year. For our France Bleu Limousin consultant, Olivier Perrier, the race promises to be great. “It’s going to be a very open race, because there is no big favorite that stands out. In fact, we have a field of revengeful and experienced riders who will go for the victory.”

The departure of the first stage between Verneuil-sur-Vienne and La Souterraine will be given on Tuesday August 16 at 12:35 p.m., to follow live on France Bleu Limousin.
