Those present that year who can still testify to it today say it: the 1976 edition of the Grand Prix de Trois-Rivières was one of the best in its long history. Because a young Gilles Villeneuve beat in Formula Atlantic, that day, Formula 1 drivers such as Alan Jones (second) and James Hunt (third), future world champions. Freddie Hunt, 35, will this weekend receive the honor of being inducted into the Friends of the Grand Prix Hall of Fame for his late father. It may seem surprising, James Hunt having only set foot on Trois-Rivières soil once. But it was during this unique presence that he changed the fate of the Villeneuve clan. Hence his induction.
