The Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences announced Thursday that next year’s gala in Edmonton will take place on Monday, March 13, rather than Sunday, March 12, the big Oscar night in Los Angeles.
The Academy announced last May that its grand gala would take place on March 12 – a Sunday, as usual – before learning a few days later that the Oscars high mass would take place the same evening.
The organizers of the Juno Canadian Music Awards then had to navigate the schedule of hockey and shows already scheduled at the “Rogers Place” auditorium in Edmonton.
The Academy will announce details for other Juno-related events later, including the usual gala dinner, where many of the many trophies are presented.
The Juno Awards are to be broadcast live on CBC and streamed on the Gem platform.
