The tragedy occurred around 9:30 p.m., on rue Clairemont, not at the intersection with 1D street, in the Laval-des-Rapides district. The police went to the scene for the shots.

Very few details were available as to the identity of the victim whose death was pronounced on the spot, said a spokesperson for the Service de police de Laval (SPL), Stéphanie Beshara.

A security perimeter has been erected and a dog handler must participate in the search for evidence.

Witnesses were met Wednesday evening in connection with the event while the SPL does not exclude the possibility that this murder is linked to the double homicide that occurred the day before in the borough of Ahuntsic-Cartierville.

No arrests have yet been made in the Laval case or in the Montreal case.
