Two people were shot and killed on Tuesday evening in Saint-Laurent and Ahuntsic, bringing the homicide toll to 17 on the island of Montreal since the start of the year.
Around 9:45 p.m., alerted by gunshots, the police went to the borough of Saint-Laurent.
When he arrived on boulevard Jules-Poitras near boulevard Deguire, the police found a man on the ground with gunshot wounds to the upper body.
He died on the spot, reported SPVM spokesperson Gabriella Youachim.
According to preliminary information, a suspect would have fired on the victim for an as yet unknown reason.
No arrests have been made, a crime scene has been erected and investigators must go on site to determine the causes and circumstances of the event.
An hour after this first murder, another man was shot, this time in Ahuntsic-Cartierville, rue Meilleur.
When they arrived on the scene, the police found a person on the ground with gunshot wounds to the upper body. The individual died on the spot.
These two murders are the 16th and 17th homicides of the year on the island of Montreal.
