In the Bouches-du-Rhône, a wildfire broke out at Pennes-Mirabeau on Sunday July 31. Monday, firefighters are still trying to put out the fire, after a night of mobilization.
“This morning, the fire is not yet extinguished, there are still hot spots and here, at the rescue center, the comings and goings of the firefighters are incessant“, details Claire Verove, live from the command post of Pennes-Mirabeau (Bouches-du-Rhône), Monday 1er august. The fire has been fixed since Sunday evening, but it can start again at any time.
Firefighters worked all night. “They watered the burnt pine forest in quantity to avoid any new outbreak of fire, despite risky conditions, because the vegetation is extremely dry”, continues the journalist. The progress of the firefighters is slow. Since the homes are no longer in danger, they must secure every square meter. “They have been helped since this morning by a water bomber helicopter, as well as by observation drones. They are equipped with thermal cameras to spot these hot spots to smother“, concludes Claire Verove.
