The first houses are several hundred meters away, but the volume of the Hard Mess is one of the main issues for the organizers of this brand new event, dedicated to hard style, a sub-genre of electronic music. The installation of the two stages was carried out in such a way as to reduce as much as possible the echoes of the concerts in the direction of Guéret.
Turn your back on Guéret
To spare local residents,he two stages, the main and the secondary, were oriented away from Guéret. “The inclination of the stage is in the opposite direction of the houses, the first of which are located at 200, 300 meters“, describes Benjamin, one of the volunteers. But will this distance be sufficient? The music will be broadcast from large walls of sound, four meters high, supported by subwoofers installed on the ground. “In sound power, we are at several tens of kilowatts, maybe even a hundred“, calculates Damien Monteil, one of the organizers and president of the Gueret association Adas Music.
Double glazing is therefore rather recommended, but the land that hosts the event plays in favor of the organizers. It is a slightly hilly field and surrounded by wood, which will break the sound waves. “We oriented the scenes towards the vegetation so that as much sound as possible was absorbed. Afterwards, depending on the wind, it can change everything“, believes Damien Monteil.
Monitor decibels
For an outdoor concert, the regulation is 105 decibels maximum. “We installed a control room to be able to take this measurement and assess the nuisances. Depending on this, it may be necessary to be only at 102 decibels so as not to create too much noise pollution for the neighbors“, declares the organizer. A first test was carried out this Sunday July 31, another will follow on Thursday August 4, this time with all the material of the festival.
