- eat 1 large bale of hay per week
Jules is still younga hippopotamus can live for up to 50 years.
Even though he has big teeth, Jules only eats fruit, vegetables or hay in the park. Its big teeth will be used to defend itself. The hippopotamus is a very territorial animal. He’s the deadliest in Africa, simply because he doesn’t like people getting too close to him.
Its skin is adapted to its environment. In Africa, it is very hot and the skin of the hippopotamus is very dry, to avoid sunburn, it secretes a reddish substance which can give the impression that it has blood on it. Well no, it’s just her natural sunscreen.
The character of Jules
Jules is un quiet father. It can cohabit with other species. He lived with goats and today he shares his new home with the dicks. It’s going quite well.
A word of advice during your visit: don’t get too close to him…
Be careful, when Jules defecates, he tends to swing his tail a little, which causes his excrement to be thrown all over the place. So if you are a little too much of his house, you have every chance of receiving some.
To see Jules, the hippopotamus, go to his new house, number 11, which he shares with the dik diks.
