A benchmark among front-drive sports compacts, the Honda Civic Type R unveiled its second generation marketed in Canada last week. If the technical arguments have not been presented, its design exposes the desire for a more mature image.

But, first of all, it should be noted that this Civic Type R 2023 will essentially be an evolution of its predecessor. Still offered only with a hatchback body, it will rely on its two front-wheel drive only to transmit torque to the ground.
A turbocharged 2.0L four-cylinder will once again do the job, still mated to a six-speed manual transmission. However, nothing is known about the power gain promised by Honda.
The whole is coated with a smoother body that avoids the escalation of slots, often non-functional, with which the body of the previous generation was decked out. Admittedly, the still protruding rear spoiler and the three exhaust pipes remain, it is a Civic Type R after all. We’ll have more details on the proposed set by the time it goes on sale in the fall.
