Forward Mathieu Joseph agreed to a four-year, $11.8 million contract extension with the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.

Ottawa acquired the 25-year-old Laval resident from the Tampa Bay Lightning in March for forward Nick Paul.
Joseph had four goals and 12 points in 11 games with the Senators.
He scored a first hat trick in the National League on 1er April, in a 5-2 win at Detroit.
“Mathieu had an immediate impact and integrated well into the group,” Senators CEO Pierre Dorion said in a statement.

In a Lightning uniform, he had eight goals and 18 points in 58 games.
The Quebecer was chosen in the fourth round in 2015 by the Lightning.
In 232 NHL games, Joseph has 41 goals and 82 points.
