Postmedia president to step down at the end of the year

Postmedia President Paul Godfrey will step down at the end of the year, the company announced Thursday.

Posted at 1:50 p.m.

He will be replaced in early 2023 by Jamie Irving, a current board member.

Mr. Irving has held a seat on the board since April, when Postmedia acquired Brunswick News, the media arm of the Irving family empire, in a cash and stock deal valued at $16. 1 million.

Mr. Godfrey will serve as a special advisor to the board and CEO following his departure as chairman.

He was the CEO at the founding of Postmedia.

The company’s current president and CEO, Andrew MacLeod, said Postmedia wouldn’t exist if it weren’t for Mr. Godfrey’s “leadership and vision.”
