The “Little Monsters” – the name of Lady Gaga’s fans – were looking forward to this concert. After a date in Germany, then in Sweden, the 36-year-old American “show girl” impressed her French audience with an extraordinary show. A look back at the highlights of an electric evening.
The biggest concert of his career
Lady Gaga had not come to France for 8 years. She gave her last concert in France at the Accorhotel Arena – formerly Bercy – on November 24, 2014. In 2018, she was to make her big comeback in Paris for her “Joanne World Tour”, but the American singer had to cancel his two French dates because of his illness, fibromyalgia.
His concert at the Stade de France, last Sunday July 24, was then for the fans an appointment not to be missed… Especially since this date has been postponed several times over the past two years because of the health crisis linked to Covid-19. On Sunday, 76,000 people came to see the pop star perform. It was for the singer the biggest concert of her career. “I want to remember this moment forever”said the artist moved between two songs.
A “dark” evening organized in several acts
For this highly anticipated tour entitled “The Chromitica Ball”, Lady Gaga had organized her show in four acts. Before each game – the time for the artist to change into eccentric costumes – images of her were broadcast on the big screens of the stadium to introduce the songs. The evening began with an arrival in a sarcophagus, enough to set the tone for the entrance.
The pop star made the public go through all the emotions during the show. From a rather dark atmosphere with monster costumes and references to pain, the singer then transported her fans into the melancholy of Shallow, the hit of the film A Star is Bornbefore making them take off with Hold my Hand, the theme song of Top Gun: Maverick. Her spectacular show, accompanied by very well executed choreography, offered two hours of immense joy to some 76,000 spectators, who were able to dance to the singer’s greatest hits, such as Poker face, just dance or Bad Romance.
Short but remarkable interventions
The pop star is used to being close to his audience and often intervening between his songs. But at the Stade de France, Lady Gaga seemed more shy. This did not prevent her from making remarkable interventions. During the evening, she shared her emotion: “After the pandemic that we went through, and that we continue to live through, we are here tonight. Let’s look at each other!”.
Obviously, the American has tried her hand at French a few times…We will especially remember her “I love you Paris” which shows his attachment to France. After the concert, Lady Gaga hastened to tweet to warmly thank her French audience.
