The arrival of the Tour de France will probably not take place in Paris on the Champs-Elysées in 2024 but “rather in Nice”. The Minister of Sports, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra, announced it on Tuesday July 26. The town hall of Nice reacts so in turn. It actually confirms that “For several weeks, its teams have been working alongside those of Amaury Sport Organization (ASO) to study the conditions for the arrival of the 2024 edition of the Tour de France in Nice”.
The municipal team puts forward a “solid experience in the organization of sporting events”, remember to be “accustomed to working with the ASO teams, in particular with the arrival each year of Paris-Nice, the organization in 2013 of the team time trial, and lately with the organization of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in 2020.” This communication does not therefore constitute confirmation that the arrival will take place in Nice, but that serious discussions are underway.
The boss of the Tour, Christian Prudhomme, again reminded him of this: “I can only tell you again that we know Nice and its mayor Christian Estrosi very well, that we have had projects for a long time” before concluding that to date, “everything has to be done”. The town hall adds that details will be provided in September.
