Katherine Levac: Fat

You don’t need to go to the Just for Laughs festival to see comedians in action this summer. Directed by Chloé Robichaud (Too, Sarah prefers running), the lover of Katherine Levac, this recording could satisfy many. For 60 minutes, the stand up comedian discusses very personal topics, such as his date failed with a competitor Chiefs!, the benefits of being in a relationship with a woman and — of course — her pregnancy. Kat Levac was also very pregnant at the time of recording. Besides an unnecessarily scatological mid-term interlude, his performance entertains and puts a smile on his face. (Bonus: fans of the show If we loved each other will recognize Sebz “a cappella” in the audience.)

pole dancing

pole dancing

Vertical bar dancing (or “pole dancing”) has not always had a good reputation. His presence in the cinema, in turnips like Showgirls and Striptease, did not help his cause. But those who have watched Jennifer Lopez’s documentary on Netflix know it: the pole dancing, it’s not as easy as it sounds. This documentary series of six 30-minute episodes clearly demonstrates this. Directed by Jean-François Proteau (A chef at the hut, The little seduction), this Locofilms production paints the portrait of a discipline that some describe as a sport in its own right, while others salute its artistic and sensual dimension. We weren’t entirely convinced after two episodes, but since this dance has always been polarizing, we recommend you check it out for your own verdict.

Pope Francis

The Pope’s visit

It will be difficult to escape it this week: the visit of Pope Francis to Quebec. Passing through Canada to meet the Aboriginal peoples as part of a process of reconciliation and listening, the Holy Father monopolized the television airwaves. On Wednesday, ICI Télé and ICI RDI will cover his arrival at Jean-Lesage airport in Quebec City live, then his tour of the Plains of Abraham in a Papemobile. Bruno Savard and Alain Crevier will be at the microphone. At LCN, the newly retired Pierre Bruneau will resume service at 2 p.m. The next morning, from 9 a.m. and 9:30 a.m., ICI Télé, ICI RDI, TVA and LCN will broadcast the mass he will celebrate at the Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré basilica.

Beat Shazam

Beat Shazam

Led by Jamie Foxx (with his daughter Corinne, who plays the DJ), this trivia game satisfies the music lover in us. Its concept is simple: identify songs from excerpts of a few seconds. That’s all. To our delight, the competitors are far from being weekend music lovers. We are talking about real war machines, all genres combined: rock, pop, rap, disco, country, soul, etc. The tandem that reaches the final round has the chance to win the handsome sum of 1 million. What’s more, the show is produced by Mark Burnett, the man behind The Voice and Survivor. We are impatiently awaiting the Quebec adaptation.

at FOX, Mondays at 9 p.m. (also airs on Citytv at 7 p.m.)
