NASA has just announced the takeoff of a rocket at the end of August 2022. A first step to prepare for a planned moon landing in 2025.

Americans back on the Moon. Fifty years after the end of the Apollo mission (1972), NASA is planning a new moon landing for the year 2025. In order to best prepare for this event, three missions will take place between now and then to test the equipment. The launch of the first mission, named “Artemis I”, is scheduled for August 29, 2022 at Cape Canaveral in Florida (USA).

Artemis I will be unmanned. Its objective is to validate the rocket and the capsule, in particular by examining the resistance of the latter when it returns to Earth at 40,000 km/h under extreme heat. “Artemis is the return to the moon program. This time to live, learn, work, do research, with the goal of going to Mars”, explains Bill Nielson, director of NASA. The other two missions, scheduled for 2024 and 2025, will be manned.
