The emergency services were notified around 12:30 a.m. of the collision which had just occurred at the intersection of Saint-Antoine and de la Montagne streets.

“According to the first information obtained from various witnesses, the vehicle was traveling westbound on Saint-Antoine Street and the pedestrian was crossing de la Montagne Street on a red light, heading north, and that’s when the impact occurred,” said Constable Jean-Pierre Brabant, spokesperson for the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM).

The 21-year-old pedestrian was in critical condition when taken to hospital.

The driver of the vehicle, a 48-year-old woman, was not injured. She will be met by SPVM investigators in the next few hours.

A security perimeter has been erected on rue Saint-Antoine, in the area.

“Saint-Antoine Street is currently closed from Peel Street. As for rue de la Montagne, it is closed from avenue des Canadiens-de-Montréal,” said agent Brabant.

Collision investigators were called to the scene to analyze the scene and determine the circumstances of the collision. They also had to meet various witnesses.

The SPVM investigation is continuing.
