CSG Americans sell the club

It’s a new page in the recent history of Elan Béarnais which will turn in the next few hours. A year after having bought the club from the towns of Pau and Lacq-Orthez, the Americans of CSG (Counterpointe Sports Group), sell the club to a new group of investors. They should be several, around Sébastien Ménard, based in Biarritz and president of the company Eat4Good. “We are looking for a lasting solution for the club. We are working”he told us this Friday morning.

The agreement will be finalized in the next few hours.

David Otto, president of CSG, announces to France Bleu Béarn Bigorre this Friday, without going into the details of the sale, “for confidentiality reasons”, that he has reached an agreement to sell his shares. “We are going to lose a lot of money”adds David Otto, who regrets having lacked support to carry out his project.

But time is running out, because twice, the Elan was excluded from the professional championships by the DNCCG, the financial policeman of French basketball, who criticized CSG for its lack of financial guarantees to ensure the economic sustainability of Elan. A new appeal, this time before the federal commission of the French Basketball Federation (FFBB), has been made and the leaders of Elan, headed by President David Bonnemason-Carrère, will be heard this Monday, July 25 at the start of afternoon, no doubt in the presence of the new owners. They will have to prove that their takeover project is more solid than that of CSG.

CSG which does not rule out taking legal action against certain club personalities.
