La Corriveau – The Thirst of Crows

The musical theater show La Corriveau — The Thirst of Crows offers a feminist rereading to go beyond the legend of Marie-Josephte Corriveau, a legendary figure in Quebec folklore, sentenced to death in 1763 for the murder of her husband. Jade Bruneau embodies La Corriveau and also signs the staging. Renaud Paradis and Jean Maheux are also part of the distribution.

The play is on view until July 23 at the Desjardins Cultural Center in Joliette, then from July 27 to 31 at the Patriote de Sainte-Agathe, before landing at Carré 150, in Victoriaville, from August 4 to 20.

Golden Dawn Arkestra

Krautrock, post-punk, electro punk, dream pop, shoegaze… There will be a bit of everything at the Distorsion festival. Scheduled for three days (July 22 to 24) on an outdoor stage in Montreal’s Mile End district, this experimental or psychedelic rock happening will bring together groups from the local scene (Larynx, Karma Glider), but also from English Canada (Holy Fuck, Larynx), the United States (Golden Dawn Arkestra) and even Europe (the Almighty Orchestra Marcel Duchamp). If the music is as good as the names, you won’t be bored. Please note: the concerts start in the afternoon!

Quebec Magic Festival

PHOTO VINCENT BERNARD, PROVIDED BY THE FESTIVAL

For his 11e edition, the Festival gives itself the mandate “to dust off magic, democratize it and present it in all its forms”.

Founded in 2011, this festival takes place on the sidelines of the annual convention of magicians in the national capital. The event’s mission is to introduce the general public to the different types and calibers of magic. For his 11e edition, the Festival gives itself the mandate “to dust off magic, democratize it and present it in all its forms”. A resolutely family and festive event held in an already… magical city.

From July 25 to 31, in various locations in Quebec.
