The Germans continue to impress. Dominating in all areas of the game, the players of the National Elf once again ruled the roost on Thursday July 21 against Austria (2-0) in the quarter-finals of Euro 2022. With this easy success, the proteges of Martina Voss-Tecklenburg are the second to qualify for the semi-finals, after England the day before.

In the Community Stadium of Brentford, in the suburbs of London, the Germans were quick to take shelter. After a raise from the goalkeeper poorly negotiated by the Austrian players, midfielder Lina Magull took over a center back from Klara Bühl to give hers the advantage in the 25th minute. Just before the end of the match, the German star striker, Alexandra Popp, sealed the outcome of the match by deflecting a clearance badly negotiated by the goalkeeper, Manuela Zinsberger, directly into the net.

Except for a start at the start of the second act, Austria never really succeeded in worrying the German door, Merle Frohms. The Austrians especially sinned by their clumsiness, touching three times the amount. Conversely, the Germans have demonstrated once again in this Euro their ability to convert opportunities. As a symbol of this foolproof realism, the Germans scored on their first shot on target of the match.

With this qualification in the last four, Germany finds this stage of the competition for the first time since the 2013 edition, in Sweden. The National Elf will face the winners of the match between France and the Netherlands, which will take place on Saturday at 9 p.m.
