Quebec reports 20 new deaths linked to COVID-19 and an increase in hospitalizations

Quebec reports Thursday 20 new deaths attributed to COVID-19, as well as an increase in hospitalizations.

There are now 2,110 hospitalizations, including 714 due to COVID-19, an increase of 53 from Wednesday. Fifty-nine people are in intensive care, including 30 due to COVID-19, an increase of two.

A total of 7,349 health care workers are absent for reasons related to COVID-19, such as preventive withdrawal or isolation.

The death toll stands at 15,834.

The Ministry of Health reports 2,149 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 1,132,785 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.

A total of 259,283 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the government platform, including 216,251 positive. For Wednesday, 698 tests were reported, including 613 positive.

The Ministry of Health indicates that 16,126 analyzes were carried out on Wednesday and that the positivity rate is 14.9%.

Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 56% received a third dose and 17% went for a fourth dose. Among those aged 60 and over, 49% obtained a fourth dose.
