Quebec reports Wednesday 14 new deaths attributed to COVID-19, in addition to a sharp increase in hospitalizations.
There are now 2,057 hospitalizations, including 679 due to COVID-19, an increase of 97 compared to Tuesday. Fifty-seven people are in intensive care, including 30 due to COVID-19, an increase of two.
A total of 7,211 healthcare workers are absent for reasons related to COVID-19, such as preventive withdrawal or isolation.
The death toll now stands at 15,814.
The Ministry of Health is also reporting 2,354 new cases of COVID-19, for a total of 1,130,636 since the start of the pandemic. However, the number of cases listed is not representative of the situation since access to screening centers is restricted to priority clienteles.
A total of 257,867 rapid tests have been self-reported so far on the platform put online by the government, including 214,976 positive. For the day on Tuesday, 750 tests were declared, including 663 positive.
The Ministry of Health reports that 13,205 tests were carried out on Tuesday and the positivity rate is 15.8%.
Among those aged 5 and over, 91% received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, 56% received a third dose and 17% obtained a fourth dose. Among those aged 60 and over, 48% went for a fourth dose.
