Parliament approves the dismissal of the head of the security services and the general prosecutor

In the midst of war against Russia, kyiv dismisses some of its senior officials. The Ukrainian parliament voted on Tuesday, July 19, in favor of the dismissal of the head of the security services and the general prosecutor of the country – a measure proposed by President Volodymyr Zelensky. The dismissal ofIvan Bakanova childhood friend of the Head of State, was approved by 265 deputies (at least 226 were needed) and that of Iryna Venediktova by 264 parliamentarians, according to deputies.

The replacement of the two officials was announced on Sunday evening by Volodymyr Zelensky, who criticized them for insufficient efforts in the fight against Russian spies and other Moscow collaborators. President also promised a “executive review” within the Ukrainian security services, while at least three senior officials of this organization have been suspected of high treason in recent months.
