A new test for the government, six days after the setback on the health bill, adopted without an article on the possible return of the health pass for entries into France. This time, it is the long-awaited package of government measures in favor of purchasing power which arrives Monday, July 18 in first reading before the National Assembly. The oppositions have every intention of making their voices heard, with more than a thousand amendments tabled.
>> Purchasing power law: “It will be difficult”, confides a member of the majority in the National Assembly, who fears a fiery debate
La France insoumise, like the whole of the New People’s Ecological and Social Union (Nupes), is calling for a real increase in wages. “There is nothing, nothing, nothing on salary. We are like at Orwell, we say the opposite of reality“, points out the LFI deputy for the Somme, François Ruffin. “We are going to bring two measures: the minimum wage to 1,500 euros and the indexation of wages to inflation“, announces the Insoumis. He thus notes that the “Prime Macron” is the first article of the bill and will be increased. This provides for the establishment of a bonus, which can go up to 6,000 euros, paid by the company to employees, without being taxable. “A payment that is not compulsory for companies!”tackle François Ruffin. A rise in wages, the increase in the minimum wage to 1,500 euros are measures already proposed in committee by the Nupes but rejected.
Opposition is found on high-stakes subjects, such as the price of fuel. Faced with high inflation (5.8% over one year in June), the Republican deputies are pushing to lower fuel prices by capping the liter at 1.50 euros per litre. “This issue of fuel taxation is our number one priority“, launches the leader of the LR deputies in the Assembly Olivier Marleix
“Fuel taxation is the most injsute measure since it is really the tax on France which gets up early to go to work”

“The government is taking very ad hoc measures, measures that are not permanent. We write a check here, a check there, we invent a platform on fuel costs, it’s a gas plant“, tackle Olivier Marleix.
But even if the oppositions do not obtain complete satisfaction, most political groups ensure that they will not block the final text. “If this law improves the daily life of the French even a little bit, even if it is imperfect, even if we could be more ambitious, if the result is positive for the French people, then we will vote for“, decides the deputy of the National Rally Laurent Jacobelli.
The deputies have three days and three nights to agree on this bill in favor of purchasing power. They will then consider Thursday, July 21 on the twin text, the amending budget which should make it possible to finance these measures. If the government’s plan goes off without a hitch, the final adoption of the bill, after a shuttle with the Senate, is scheduled for August 7.
