They wanted to weigh in and oppose the erasure of the socialist party within the left alliance of Nupes. But the dissidents of the PS have missed their bet in the legislative elections with disappointing scores. The latter meet this Saturday, July 16, in the Sarthe, on the initiative of the mayor of Le Mans Stéphane Le Foll, to try to embody a “new left federation” and to imagine the left of tomorrow. A goal that still seems distant.

Besides, “At the PS there is not much left to lose, there is nothing left“, loose, a little disillusioned, François Hollande, who will be absent for reasons of agenda, but who says to support the approach. The former president of the Republic estimates that he “must go to the end of the clarification at the PS” and rebuild a force capable of winning the 2027 presidential election.
This meeting, initiated by former minister Stéphane Le Foll in Arnage, attempts to lay the foundations of a “new leftist federation”. Former Prime Minister Bernard Cazeneuve – whose name appeared in the Uber Files recently – and the president of the Occitanie region Carole Delga will be present remotely, by videoconference. The former first secretary of the PS Jean-Christophe Cambadélis will be there. All are aware that the line they embody is seen as the past by the current management.

The mayor of Le Mans and his allies are looking for a third voice between the center left and Emmanuel Macron, a left of responsibility far from the radicalism of the Insoumis. Except that the results of the PS dissidents in the legislative elections do not validate their strategy and that other former socialist ministers, like François Rebsamen, dispute this political segment with them.
