With negotiations still at an impasse, Urgences-Santé support workers are announcing a 36-hour strike from Monday to next Tuesday.
This strike beginning Monday at midnight and ending Tuesday at noon should not affect emergency services in Greater Montreal.
According to a decision rendered by the Administrative Labor Tribunal (TAT), the services offered during these 36 hours are deemed sufficient to meet the needs of the population. The strike will mainly affect administrative tasks, we can observe by looking at the decision of the TAT.
Without a collective agreement for more than two years, the support employees of Urgences-Santé are asking, among other things, for measures to promote the attraction and retention of personnel.
“Instead of tackling the labor shortage by offering better working conditions, by negotiating solutions with us in the collective agreement, Urgences-santé, chooses to pay more to have our work done by workers in the private sector, in our premises, with our work tools”, lamented the president of the union, Marc Dulude.
Note that since January 2022, 45 out of 120 employees have left their jobs at Urgences-Santé.
