For children who do not have the chance to leave during the summer, Secours Catholique calls on volunteers, who welcome them into their homes. Report in the North, where a dozen families have volunteered.

In La Cappelle-en-Pévèle (North), three young girls are enjoying their summer. “Already, we get along really well, we have a lot in common. It’s awesome“, confides one of them. Spending two weeks of vacation with a child that we do not know, Aurélie and Raphaël Carpentier wanted to try the adventure. They took the plunge with Secours Catholique. The charity allows 2,000 children in France to get a change of scenery, while their parents cannot afford to go away in the summer.

We had several interviews with them, they visited the house, then they offered us a file of a child, in this case Virginia“, says Aurélie Carpentier, host family. For Virginia, holidays are a great alternative to the usual summer camp. Her host family can put her values of sharing into practice. Virginia is only one time from home, but it’s a real change of scenery, with new activities and new playmates. She will then spend a week at sea, in Brittany.
