[Critique] “Salt”, Jussi Adler-Olsen | The duty

Little discomfort, let’s say it right away. This investigation by the famous Department V, headed by Carl Mørck, rings… false. It is not the plot that is in question, on the contrary: it is infinitely complex, and the reader will put hundreds of pages before really understanding what is even in question here. Let’s simplify by saying that at the end of the day, it’s a dark story of a vigilante who officiates in the shadows for a few decades without anyone realizing it. A vigilante who takes control over the lives of heinous characters, yes, but “ordinary”, and who executes them leaving his signature: a small pile of salt, somewhere, nearby. As usual, Mørck and his team will unravel the plot, but it is the relationships that unite them all that lack credibility. What happened ?
