The Livret A rate will double on August 1st. Update with journalist Maeva Damoy, present, Friday July 15, on the 19/20 set.

Livret A interest rates will drop to 2% on August 1. Is this good news? “In fact, yes, because each euro placed will bring in more over the year. The average sum placed on a livret A is 5,500 euros. If we do the math, a 2% rate will bring in 110 euros in interest for the year, against 55 euros until then”specifies the journalist Maeva Damoy, present, Friday, July 15, on the set of 19/20.

The Livret A rate is reassessed twice a year, partly according to inflation. This increase to 2% will not, however, offset inflation, which is estimated at 5.5% over the year. “If we base ourselves on the average amount of the Livret A, 5,500 euros, we estimate the shortfall at 192 euros for savers. Good news to put into perspective, therefore, for the 54.9 million French people who have a A booklet”concludes the journalist.
