“Any boost to purchasing power is good to take“, said Friday, July 15 on franceinfo the Minister Delegate for Transport Clément Beaune after the main motorway networks decided to grant a 10% reduction to motorists who pay the toll by holiday vouchers, i.e. a maximum discount possible of 25 euros Clément Beaune, had asked these motorway companies for a “gesture”.
“I’m not saying it’s perfect, but I’m saying it’s a positive step”commented the Minister of Transport, who specified that he wanted “start a conversation” with motorway companies around toll prices.
“I want that in the fall, and especially at the start of next year, we don’t have any bad surprises that add to the purchasing power difficulties of the French.”

An automatic annual increase in toll rates, indexed in particular to inflation, is scheduled for February 1, 2023, in accordance with the contract established between the State and the motorway concessionaires. “It’s unthinkable to have toll increases of 5% or 6% next year”warns Clément Beaune.

The Minister of Transport will also “discuss” at the start of the school year with the SNCF “on the simplification of tariffs” and “other benefit measures”. Clément Beaune pleads for the railway group “developed” its reduced rates and promises to be “vigilant” on prices, while a tariff increase is possible in 2023 due to the rise in energy prices. “It’s not decided yet”assures Clément Beaune.
