After the rain comes the good weather! Johnny Depp knows something about it … After winning his lawsuit against his ex, Amber Heard, the 58-year-old actor is jubilant and there is reason for it. American judge Penney Azcarate rejected, on Wednesday July 13, the request for a new trial made by the actress, sentenced last month to pay more than 10 million dollars to the interpreter of Jack Sparrow for having defamed him in an editorial. The latter had requested the cancellation of the verdict because of doubts about the identity of one of the jurors.
“The juror was approved (by both parties), stayed with the jury, deliberated and reached a verdict,” Judge Azcarate wrote in her decision, finding that there was no “no evidence of fraud or wrongdoing”. “The only evidence before this court is that this juror and all the others complied with their oath, the instructions and the orders of the court. This court is bound by the competent decision of the jury”she explained.
However, she can still appeal to the Virginia Court of Appeals. An option that she should certainly explore given that the insurance policy, to which she has subscribed, will not cover the 10.2 million that she owes.
Johnny Depp returns to the movies
After the legal aspect, Johnny Depp will be able to get back to work. It is in France that the actor will shoot! He will star in a film by Maïwenn Le Besco, where he will play King Louis XV. And it is Netflix who, by buying the broadcasting rights, will help its producers to finance it. The director will play Madame du Barry herself, the “famous mistress of Louis XV” and last favorite of the king, guillotined during the Revolution. It will be the first time that Johnny Depp will play in French as confirmed by several media including Bloomberg ! A nice revenge for the one to whom Hollywood has turned its back.
