(Budapest) Hundreds of demonstrators blocked a bridge in Budapest on Thursday, protesting for the third day in a row against a tax reform by Prime Minister Viktor Orban’s government.

These are the first demonstrations since the re-election of the conservative leader in April.
Mr. Orban’s party “proved in 100 days that all his words were lies”, launched in front of the demonstrators Peter Marki-Zay, who was at the head of an opposition coalition which failed against Mr. Orban .
The protesters, who numbered in the thousands on Wednesday, say the tax reform that removes a tax bracket will affect hundreds of thousands of small traders.
The country, which is in discussions with Brussels on funds to support its economy, is plagued by inflation and a plunge in its currency.
The government announced on Wednesday a “state of emergency” to respond to the energy crisis, with a planned increase in coal production and an appeal to households to restrict their consumption.
