Mado Marcel’s staff will still have to wait. The textile group based in Neaux is in compulsory liquidation and its employees will not know until Friday, July 15 if they have a buyer, and if so, who he is. The Commercial Court of Roanne decided on Wednesday July 13 to put the decision under advisement after having listened to the final offers of the two buyers.
There is that of the Avona group, based in Beaujolais in Villefranche-sur-Saône and specializing in women’s ready-to-wear, and that of Univertex, which is headquartered in the Drôme and which offers clothes in a rather sporty style. This hearing was the last chance for them to convince.
Two buyers and two very different offers
The boss of Avona has highlighted the social impact of his project, with the takeover of 34 employees out of 77. Stéphane Pagani also sees the takeover of the entire group as a means of continue to live a “flagship“ he said of the region.
The leader of Univertex, defended him, a very different offer. Daniel Sagnard only wants to take over two of the group’s three brands, those that sell wholesale, in supermarkets, because that’s what he knows how to do. He therefore does not want to buy the retailer, which explains why he only keeps eight employees.
Employees who prefer to remain silent
The court may choose one of these offers or none of them. Whichever option is chosen, there will be damage for the employees. They are very worried and it was felt in court where there were a dozen of them waiting. They did not wish to speaknot before knowing the decision of the court.
